Rebar weight can be obtained from the relevant standards. The manual calculation of the rebar weight per foot or rebar weight per meter could be a little different from the values specified in the standards.
It is very important to be aware of the rebar unit weight as there are limitations of variations. The code specified tolerances shall be allowed to be changed. Engineers shall make the reinforcement bar weight within the acceptable range.
The following table indicates the allowable tolerances in the weight.

Further, sometimes, it is required to obtain the rebar weight based on the bar diameter and the spacing of the bars. Especially when the reinforcement quantities of the slab, walls, etc. are taken, the following table could be used to calculate the weight of the rebar.

Let’s see how we can calculate the reinforcement weight. We need not have a calculator to do that. We can do it manually.
Once we calculate the rebar unit weight, we can calculate the rebar weight per foot or rebar weight per 6m and 12m.
Nominal area of the bar = A
Diameter of the bare = D
The density of the reinforcement = ρ
Rebar weight per meter
Cross sectional area = A = (π D2) / 4
Volume pre meter = A x 1 = (π D2) / 4
Weight per meter = ρ(π D2) / 4
From this equation, we can calculate the weight of their rebar per meter length. Here, the density of reinforcement is in kg/m3 and bar diameter in m.
Example:
Bar diameter 16mm
Density of reinforcement = 7850 kg/m3
Weight of rebar per meter = ρ(π D2) / 4 = 7850 x (π 0.0162) / 4 = 1.57833
This value is the same as the above table and there have approximated to the next decimal.
Similarly, we can calculate the rebar weight per foot also.
